Jim Moodie was one of the guests at the Kirkcaldy and District Motor Club film presentation held at a Glenrothes golf club on Saturday 21st February. Jim used the good weather to fly his helicopter to the venue where the audience saw a film, cut on DVD, showing rare footage of the clubs activities going back to the start in 1922. It's amazing to see how close the spectators could get to the action back in those days, and with the changing times with safety being ever more prevalent, it's not surprising racing at Beverage park came to an end. However, Beverage Park was instrumental in past years for some of the best riders Scotland's ever produced and when you mention the great Bob Macintyre, and in the parks last years Ian Simpson, then Beverage Park's place in the clubs history is rightly assured.
Crail circuit was also featured and it wasn't that many years ago when Jim Moodie and Ian Simpson made the trip straight from the TT, after Fridays Senior race was held over to the Saturday, to compete at Crail on the Sunday. Of course no Kirkcaldy club show would be complete without some film from Knockhill race circuit, as some Scottish championship races were featured.
After the film show, Jim along with other guest riders, sat on the panel to answer questions from the enthusiastic audience about their careers….Questions like how they started, favourite circuits, career highlights, achievements and the best bikes they have ever ridden. All went down well with the audience and everyone appreciated the guest's participation. Below is a photo of the Forth estuary, taken from Jim's helicopter on the way to the Kirkcaldy clubs film and talk show.
