Jim Moodie undergoes major leg surgery. 12-8-04
It's been a while since any word was published of Jim Moodie's progress on and off the track. One thing for sure Jim's determination to get back on the track is not in any doubt as the pictures below clearly show.
Performed at St James hospital Leeds, the operation took five hours and there are twelve pins in his leg and foot. Obviously this is no ordinary every day procedure and is in fact cutting edge surgery to correct the problem caused by the quad accident last December.
This only confirms his own self belief in what he wants to do and his unswerving determination to get there. The frame will be on his leg for some considerable time, something that Jim was well aware of before going under the knife. Having that information at hand, Jim has been training harder (if that's possible) than ever before in order to make his recovery as quick as humanly possible, while maintaining a high fitness level through this period.
Now that I've had a chance to speak to Jim personally for the first time since operation I've had to make one or two changes to the original statement and besides Jim has found there are actually 18 pins in his leg.
Below is a couple of photo's of Jim's leg.
