Jim Moodie looks to the future...3-7-04

What's Jim doing? Well it's one of those questions that many people are asking and although he's not racing, at the moment anyway, he has every intention of returning to the track. Before all that there's a question of an operation on his leg to get it back to full race trim. Jim doesn't take these decisions lightly, especially after his pre season double injury blow that resulted in this decision. One thing for sure, it shows how determined he is to get back on the race track.

Jim's been real busy; in fact he's probably been busier than ever, mainly helping John McGuinness at the North West and the TT. Jim did say in the past that the TT is very stressful as a rider, but being involved with John was even more intense. Jim said he was trying to see things from a rider's point of view plus helping with the bike set up and running of the team. Jim had no doubt that John could have come away with five wins although the TT involves a degree of good fortune and even when things are going well it can quickly turn on its head. Jim went to the Island, not just to help here and there; he went with a total commitment to do his best, passing on his years of professional experience to John as if it was Jim Moodie himself riding the bikes. John McGuinness certainly appreciated Jim's help and in fact he put a lot of his success down to Jim. It was well documented in the press about Jim's involvement, help and encouragement. Even Jim's highly accurate lap time predictions, which most people see as uncanny, is something of a Jim Moodie trade mark that won't surprise the close friends who really know him.

Going back to the North West, the best newcomer award went to Scotsman Les Shand and again it's no surprise that Jim's been helping Les adapt to road racing as well as help guiding him through his already successful national superstock season.

Jim's latest port of call was a full weekend at the Goodwood festival of speed doing some PR work and demonstration runs along side other riders like John McGuinness, Yukio Kagayama, Michael Rutter and Leon Haslam.
